On April 27th, there was a dog sled race taking place in Ittoqqortoormiit!!

The 8 dog teams that are participating in the race have just started.

They are going towards Gulefjeld and Kap Tobin before returning to Ittoqqortoomiit.

The first two sledges are coming close to the finish line.

And the winner is – Åge Hammeken!

Ingkasi came in as nr. 4!

People are having fun in the sun, while waiting for the last dog teams to pull in.

Here`s the reason why I was watching the race instead of participating myself. I crashed my sledge on my way to the start :-(.

There`s still a lot of snow in Ittoqqortoormiit. This picture was taken less than a week ago.

But it is springtime, even in the Arctic! We might not smell it that much yet, but we certainly hear it! These cute little birds, the snow buntings, often sit directly underneath our living room window.

I love to hear them sing! And I guess what they are trying to tell me right now, is: “Cheer up! Don`t take yourself too seriously! You´ll get a new chance to make it to start, next year 🙂 !”
