By now, we are enjoying arctic spring with long days and bright nights, a lot of sunshine and warmer temperatures. Finally, I am ready to share a few pictures taken during the last two months.

– A sunny day at Kap Swainson –
On a foggy day in the end of april, 9 dog-teams (approximately 100 dogs) and 22 people were meeting up at Kap Swainson.
7 of those dog teams came there with kids from the Umimmar Club (Ittoqqortoormiit`s youth club), and after having lunch at the cabin, they climbed up the hill and had a lot of fun sliding down :-).
A few days later, Ingkasi got another Polar Bear, close to Kap Tobin.
It was a big one! – By now, there are just 3 bears left to be shot this year.
Last Sunday at 10 am, this years dogsled-race was taking place.
I had to work at the church. Only 2 dog teams participated.
Ingkasi and his dogs won the race.
The 1. prize was 100 kg of dog food.
🙂
Congratulations Ingkasi!
Nice pictures, thanks Ruth.
Thank you, Aude!!
Danke, Ruth! Wieder ein schöner Bericht. Der versprochene Memory-Stick für Dich wird Montag abgeschickt! Herzlichst, Jörg
Hallo Jörg, – ich freue mich auf die Bilder, vielen Dank!! LG, Ruth
Why was the Polar Bear shot? Why will 3 more be shot? To someone not familiar with this it seems brutal and unnecessary.
