After an intense summer and a very short autumn, winter is here!
Since I´ve neglected this blog for a while, I still have some summer-pictures to share. So, let`s go back in time…
In the last 2 weeks of august, my husband and I spend 10 days in the Scoresby Sund, the largest fjord system in the world. I had been looking forward to those days for a long time.
After short breaks at Danmark Ø and Ankervig/Hjørnedal we pitched our tent at Harefjord, and ended up staying there for 5 days.
Reindeer antlers, buried in the ground.
We took a bath in a lake, not far away from a flock of musk ox.
This was a perfect summer day.
GREENland 🙂 a feast for my eyes!
We collected some qiviut – musk ox wool.
These incredible soft fibers will some day end up in a hat or scarf!
A peaceful evening at Harefjord.
This plant was catching mosquitos!
After a few warm and sunny days, it rained for an entire day.
Next morning, the mountaintops were covered by snow, and the air was a bit chilly. Clearly, summer was coming to an end … and we decided to move on.
Bathing in the lake must have been a little chilly, no? Great photos as always Ruth!
Thank you Rosh! Yes, it was a little chilly, so we didn`t stay in the water for very long 🙂
Besutiful. How did you get there? By boat? I was in the fjord in 2007. Great Great experience!
Thanks, Ulla, yes, we got there by boat. We have a 19-foot open motorboat. Did you get there on the big boat Nanu Travel owned, back in 2007?
When I read “…Scoresby Sund, the largest fjord system in the world.”, my first thought was “Really?” I keep forgetting how huge Greenland is. Thanks for sharing so many photos on this blog beyond the typical travelogue variety.
Thanks, Dan, – and yes, the Scoresby Sund is the largest and longest fjord system in the world. Not many people know that. It is a huge area. Although I`ve been in the fjord many times by know, there`s still a lot I haven`t seen yet!
